Zen Life: Strength and Ease in Harmony

Something I’ve been sitting with recently is the idea of sthira and sukha (strength and ease). Specifically, I’ve been thinking about these ideas in the context of growth. Too much strength and you’ll burn out. Too much relaxation and you’ll stay stagnant. Nurturing and balancing these ideas together in harmony lead to sustainable growth, but finding balance can be. so. hard. I often find myself doing too much. Pushing forward at a million miles an hour trying to do everything for everyone. Sometimes that gives me a lot of energy and sometimes it is absolutely draining...
In training today we talked about all the different versions of a “practice” that are not “on the mat.” Self care, asking for help, setting boundaries to name a few. The one that really resonated with me was saying no. It’s really hard for me to say no, but it’s so necessary to find balance!!! So anyway, that’s what I’ll be working on over here 👋🏻 What is your “off the mat” practice??
